Bible – All Scripture is self-affirming and being Truth, requires our unreserved submission in all areas of life. The infallible Word of God, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments, is a complete and unified witness to God’s redemptive acts culminating in the incarnation of the Living Word, the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible, uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, is the supreme and final authority on all matters on which it speaks. The Bible should be interpreted literally, grammatically, contextually and historically. On this sure foundation we affirm these Essentials:
God – We believe in one God, the sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. To Him be all honor, glory and praise forever!
Jesus Christ – Israel’s promised Messiah – is the eternal Son of God, conceived in the flesh by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary and is fully God and fully man. Jesus Christ lived a sinless life, was crucified and died to pay for the sin of all mankind. He was buried and three days later He rose bodily from the dead by the power of God. Jesus appeared to many people after His resurrection and then ascended into heaven and is now seated at the right hand of God the Father where He is our only Mediator, High Priest, and Advocate. His atoning death and victorious resurrection constitute the only ground for salvation.
The Holy Spirit – the Holy Spirit is God, a person, not a force. The Holy Spirit has come to glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to our hearts. He convicts us of sin and draws us to the Savior. Indwelling our hearts, He gives new life to us, empowers and imparts gifts to us to serve and glorify God. He instructs and guides us into all truth, and seals us for the day of redemption.
The Human Condition – We believe that God created mankind – male and female- in His own image and likeness, free of sin, to glorify Himself and enjoy his fellowship. Adam and Eve sinned when tempted by Satan. All human beings are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God, and under His wrath. Being estranged from God and condemned by our sinfulness, our salvation is wholly dependent upon the work of God’s free grace. Only through God’s saving work in Jesus Christ can we be rescued, reconciled and renewed. God credits His righteousness to those who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation, thereby justifies them in His sight. Only such as are born of the Holy Spirit and receive Jesus Christ become children of God and heirs of eternal life.
The Church – All who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord are united with Him as members of His Body, the one true Church. Believers are to gather for worship, prayer, fellowship, and the teaching of the Word; to observe Baptism and Communion as established by Jesus Christ; to offer service to the Body through development and use of talents and gifts and outreach to the world. Cared for and led by Elders and Deacons, church members are to work together in love and unity for the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.
Christ’s Return – Things to Come
We believe in and expectantly await the glorious, visible, personal, and bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ. The blessed hope of His return has a vital bearing on the personal life, service, and mission of the believer. We believe in the bodily resurrection of both the saved and the lost.
The saved and the lost will be raised to judgment. The lost will experience eternal wrath in hell. The saved will be raised to eternal joy in the new heaven and new earth in the manifested presence of God.
The Lord Jesus Christ commands all believers to proclaim the Gospel throughout the world and to make disciples of all nations. Obedience to the Great Commission requires total commitment to “Him who loved us and gave Himself for us.” He calls us to a life of self-denying love and service. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them”.
